LITTLE FLOWER ART SHOWING.

Little Flower is one of my favorite cafes in Pasadena and the owners, Christine & Pam are two of the most genuinely talented & vibrant people I know. About a month ago I approached them about potentially displaying my photographs at their shop and was over the moon when they said yes!

I had been working on a series that involved capturing my favorite spots in my native town of Pasadena, without looking like a typical tourist guide.  I shot black and white film (Ilford SFX 200) and enlarged and printed each frame in a black and white darkroom.  What I love about them is that they have a high contrast and symmetrical quality that pulls it all together into one collective series.

Christine and Pam had an art showing for me last Sunday, which included a jewelry designer selling really beautiful handmade and vintage pieces, along with a clothing designer showing "sensible chic" women's clothing.  The evening was extremely special to me - family, friends and strangers all showed up to support and I can't express how grateful I am to everyone. What a fun night!!

(A big thank you to PM for helping me hang everything on the wall. I would have lost my mind had I attempted it alone)

Six of the twelve prints are now for sale online (unframed) along with a handful of my favorite postcards.
If you're looking for a special gift this holiday for your Pasadena friends and family, wander on over!

If you've never been to Little Flower  head over and try their pumpkin bread pudding - WOW, it's delectable & the homemade sea salt caramels are addicting. (1422 W. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA).

PASADENA.

I've been working on a black and white film series of Pasadena over the last couple of months and I am really excited to share them. I shot three roles of Ilford SFX 200 film and printed each photo in a black and white darkroom.  The photos below are scans of 4 of the 12 that I currently have on display at Little Flower in Pasadena.  The website below offers 6 for sale if you're looking for a special holiday gift!

TENNESSEE & FAMILY GETAWAY.

I got to visit my brother in Knoxville a few weeks ago.
He lives on a huge property with 8 of his best friends and their dog, Stella.
I still can't believe his backyard...

I also got to spend a week with my parents in Nashville.
We spent more than a few days at our favorite coffee shop, Fido.
These kinds of trips make me want to get out of LA and start a new adventure in TN.

STOP, SLOW DOWN.

Last night I found this photo on my hard drive from a trip I took to San Francisco in 2010.
This little reminder now resides as my desktop background,
reminding me in this season to stop, slow down & continually wait on the Lord and His timing.
I often want to rush this, especially lately.

Lamentations 3:24-26
I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him,
to the one who seeks Him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
